The past 2 yrs. on July 24th we have held a ceremony near the Money Creek Bridge where Shannon was killed.  The first ceremony was held in memory of Shannon, asking for justice.  A black banner with white lettering was lifted into the sky with black and white balloons.  It read "Justice for Shannon Smith" along with his story.

Shannon Smith Remembered

5 Years Later

We are still keeping Shannon's memory alive and reminding the public of the horrific event that occurred on July 24, 2000.  Justice still has not been meted out but hopefully keeping the public and law enforcement aware of this tragedy, it may prompt some new training and save someone's life.

The 2nd ceremony was not just for Shannon.  Two more names were added to the banner.  There had been two more tragic police shootings in the year that followed the first ceremony for Shannon.  The Smith, Ruch, and McCure families joined together in honor of their loved ones, and announced the formation of their new organization P.U.P.S.
